CNNi Refreshes On Air Look

CNNi anchor Natalie Allen was the first to go on air with the channel's new graphics on September 1st
CNNi, DStv 401, has refreshed its on air graphics to better reflect the new graphics on sister network, CNNUS.

The new look is identical to CNNUS's new look that was introduced a few weeks ago, though CNNi's on air logo is a white-lettered CNN with a red background, the first time that the CNN letters are not written in the traditional white.

It is also the first CNNi logo to not have the globe as part of the logo. This means that casual viewers will now not easily be able to see the difference between when they are watching programming from CNNi or CNNUS, which is a good thing considering the graphics usually seemed schizophrenic when CNNUS's programming was shown on the channel. The uniformity now means that when there is a simulcast, viewers will still be familiar with the channel's onscreen presentation regardless of which network produced the on air content.

They new graphics has been months in the works and finally went live at midnight New York time on September 1st.

Viewers suspected that the channel's graphics would be aligned with the US version's since a few weeks ago the on air promos for various programs were packaged in the same manner, using the same graphics, as the promos of CNNUS's programming.

Below is footage of when the switchover occured:
