Gerry Rantseli-Elsdon Silently Quits Vuka Africa

Gerry was one of the three major hires brought in by the channel as its 'faces,' the others being Prime Time anchor Chantal Rutter Dros, formerly of Carte Blanche, and famous musician, Arthur who hosts Sessions, a chat show with local celebs
I have been looking for leads on the story that Gerry Rantseli-Elsdon has left Vuka Africa, ANN7's breakfast show ealier in the year. In fact, her departure was so silent (or the fact that no one noticed as no one watched) I could only now, after over two months of searching finally find something, reported by the Sunday World back in February already.

In the article it states that she left the show because it has never been her intention to stay with the channel past the 24th February expiration date of her contract, which is very odd. Think about it: Why would a channel hire someone with the known intention of only sticking around for a few months, making them the face of the channel and the host of their breakfast show that they pumped quite a lot of resources into.

Since Gerry has left, the show has not been as good as it once was. What was once a promising breakfast show with many interviews and discussions of contemporary issues (with a seperate news reader at the top and bottom of the hour) is now just a shadow of its former self, now just a generic news bulletin with a name of what was once a proper breakfast show, Vuka Africa. What a disappointment.
